    2 Br-Ma-MMP-Japanese Destroyer Minekaze Plans No.1
The release of this book containing sets of fold-out plans is exciting for various reasons, not least because sets of plans in various scales is provided at a sensible cost without having to outlay a lot of money.

Plans are included in all three popular maritime scales of: 1:700; 1:350 and 1:200.

Additionally, extra details are shown in 1:100 scale for clarity.

    Japanese Destroyer Minekaze

    Ship Plans No. 1
    Author: Grzegorz Nowak
    Publisher: MMP Books
    ISBN: 978-83-65281-06-7
    Binding: Softcover
Pages: A3 sized pages in an A4 cover

Mushroom Model Publications have amassed an impressive library of scale drawings over the years, and recently they have been repackaging the aviation plans as standalone books. Now they have expanded this series into their ship drawings with this first collection on the Japanese destroyer Minekaze. The Minekaze served with the Japanese Navy for decades, starting in the 1920s and continuing on through the Second World War.

The scale drawings in this book cover the Minekaze in three phases: the 1920 fitting, the 1939 fitting, and the 1944 fitting. The drawings are presented in three scales, 1/700, 1/350, and 1/200, and include a cutaway cross section and a hull sectional. A separate page contains some detail part drawings and a perspective overview of the bridge structure. The drawings are presented on folded A3 sheets, with the 1/200 drawings split between two sheets.

If you're in need of scale drawings of the Minekaze, this is a great way to cover all the important scales. Priced at only £9, it is an affordable choice as well. My thanks to Mushroom Model Publications for the review copy.

This is MMP Books' first foray into drawing sets. It seems like these sorts of things have become quite popular, especially with modelers and those interested in a particular subject. The set consists of several pages that are all two page fold-outs.

There are drawings in the major ship scales. This means 1/700, 1/350 and 1/200. This includes cutaway drawings so you can see where the various internal components were located. In addition, you are provided with detail drawings such as the bridge structure, various guns and other ship's fittings, also in the usual scales.

Multiple drawings are provided as you are given an opportunity to see the ship when it was constructed in 1920, how it was just before the war in 1939 and its final fit in 1944. The Minikaze was only one in a class of many sister ships. On the last page of the book we are provided with stats on the class as well as a table the provides basic information on all of the other ships in the class.

In all, it makes for an interesting publication in its own right and a must have item for those modeling the ship.

MMP has published Ship Plans No.1 featuring the Japanese Destroyer Minekaze. This publication consists of a number of fold-out line drawings of the Minekaze in 1/350th scale, 1/200th scale, and 1/700th scale. The line drawings show the vessel as configured in 1920, 1939, and 1944.

Much detail is shown including railings, rigging, armament, depth charge racks, antennas, and utility boats. There is little text beyond captions for some of the drawings.

This publication will prove extremely useful to ship modelers who favor IJN subjects. Also, it should be noted that this publication is identified as “No 1”, promising more publications in this series.

In North America Casemate serves as the distributor for MMP, and in Australia the distributor is Platypus Publications.

This publication is highly recommended for WWII IJN aficionados and IJN modelers in particular. Thanks to Mushroom Models Productions for providing the review copy of this excellent publication to IPMS/USA for review.
